Alain Mikli had already started to explore eyewear design at age 17 when he was still a student of ophthalmology. The Alain Mikli brand was first launched in 1978. In 1983 they were introduced to the world stage by way of Elton John. Mikli par Mikli was introduced as a more accessible entry into the brand. Philippe Starck and Alain Mikli began colloborating in 1996 with a line of eyewear characterized by a unique hinge, the “biolink”, modeled after the human shoulder.
Every Alain Mikli frame is hand made in and showcase the Made-in-France know how. No need to stick a logo with the brand’s name on it to recognize Alain Mikli frames. Their look, style and patented comfort make of them frames for correction and distinction.
